Black Lichen
Black lichen is a perfect moss for a variety of designs and uses.
Black lichen can be thought of as a band-aide… when you have a problem, such as split leaves, glue dropped on leaves, flowers or ribbon, simply add a little more glue and cover with black lichen. This gives added dimension, interest, and covers a multitude of sins.
Black lichen is wonderful as a source of texture and the varying shades of black, gray, green, make a beautiful contrast against other colors.
Before using, dip in warm water then blot with a towel or place on newspaper and let drain. This allows the black lichen to regain its shape and look fresh as though it were growing in the forest.
Mood Moss

This moss is distinctive in its compact growth habit, and is desirable when you would especially like to feature a mossy look.
It is harvested in clumps, and looks best where these are placed close together, to accentuate the tufted look. The clumps can be secured by placing greening pins around the edge of each piece.
Reindeer Moss Softened

This another moss to use as a fix-all when you have a problem area, blemish, cut, tear, chipped container, drops of glue, soiled spots, etc.
Simply cover with a clump of moss to fit the size. You’ll be pleased to see the texture and fresh new look. This little touch will add the texture and fresh new look.
Reindeer moss can also be used the same way you use mood moss, by grouping several mounded tufts together, secure with hot glue or greening pins.
Spanish Moss
Spanish moss is used in large quantities by the floral industry, at the base of trees and other plants both fresh and artificial. spanish moss may also be used to cover your mechanics when designing arrangements.
Spanish moss can be misted slightly, 30 minutes to an hour before you use. This will soften and cut down on dust. Don’t wet completely.
If you live in the south or a very humid area you can place your drieds outside in the open air for a couple of hours and it will absorb the moisture in the air.
Wreaths will take on a new dimension when using spanish and other mosses to achieve a lodge look.
The old south comes to life with permanent botanicals such as magnolias, or wisteria and an accent of Spanish Moss.
